Privacy Policy

In one sentence: the safest way to hold a child’s data is not to have it. Deletrazo never asks a child for a real name, a birth date, an email address, a photo, or a location — and it cannot, because students have no accounts.
1. What we store about a student
Exactly two things, and the student chooses both:
- A nickname they type when they start. It can be anything and we do not check it against anything.
- Their grade level (3 through 8). It identifies no one, and we need it to decide how to explain words: a definition does not land the same way at eight as it does at thirteen.
And, as they practice, which words they attempted and whether they got them right. That is what lets us teach the rule they missed and decide what to review.
What we never store
- Real first or last name
- Birth date or exact age
- Email address or phone number
- Photos, video, or voice recordings
- Location
- Contacts, calendar, or any other device data
- Advertising identifiers
The teacher knows who is who; the system does not
A student joins a class using a code their teacher reads aloud, plus the nickname they chose. The link between that nickname and a specific child lives in the teacher’s head and on their class roster, exactly as any classroom nickname does. It is not in our systems.
That is a design decision, not an oversight: it means a data breach would expose information that is accurate, academic, and about nobody in particular.
2. Accounts are for adults
The management panel — where a teacher creates a class or a parent reviews a weekly summary — does require an account, and for that we ask for name, email, and password. Those accounts always belong to adults.
Passwords are stored using one-way hashing: we cannot read or recover them, only reset them.
3. Consent
Before a student’s app sends anything to our servers, permission is required. We accept it through either of two paths:
- School consent
- The school or district authorizes on behalf of families for educational use, within its relationship with the school.
- Parental consent
- A parent or legal guardian authorizes directly from the panel.
Whichever applies to each class is the one we use. Until one of them is in place, what the student practices stays on their device.
4. Advertising, tracking, and money
No advertising. No trackers. No in-app purchases. There are no third-party components for analytics or ads, and we do not sell or share data with anyone. This is not a policy we can change without also changing this page.
This website uses no cookies and no analytics either.
5. Deleting data
It is a button inside the app, not an email request or a form. It erases progress from the device and, if anything had been sent to the server, there as well.
A parent can also export and delete their child’s data from the panel. The export deliberately includes effort and consistency and not the list of what the child got wrong: this is not a report card.
6. Legal frameworks
Deletrazo was designed to comply with, among others:
- COPPA — protection of children under 13 online.
- FERPA — education records, where a district designates us a school official.
- Texas SB 820 and equivalent student-data laws in other states.
- App Store and Google Play policies for children’s apps.
7. Where data lives
On servers within the United States. Traffic between the app and the server is encrypted.
8. Changes to this policy
If something material changes, we update the date at the top and give notice inside the app before the change takes effect. We do not apply changes retroactively to data already collected under a previous policy.
